What you will learn
In this class you will create a kimono jacket based upon the Mai Su pattern by Emma Seabrooke. This lovely garment works well in knits or fabrics such as light weight silks, rayon, or cotton lawn. It can be made in a single fabric, or it can be pieced creatively into panels of various color and fabric types. If you like to embroider or embellish your work, this pattern is perfect to showcase your skills.
This class will require one or more sessions with Linda to complete. You should register for one Design and Customization class. The Putting it Together session is optional.
In the Design Session Linda will introduce you to the pattern, design process and help you customize the jacket and sleeves to fit by adjusting the pattern's size as necessary. She will assist you in determining your color scheme, yardage requirements and choosing your fabric. You will have a customized pattern and piecing strips based upon your choices and then create a muslin. Participants receive a 15% discount on Pennie's fabric purchased for this pattern.
In Linda's Putting it Together sessions you will receive assistance in finishing your customized muslin from the Design Session class. She will guide you in every step of sewing your garment using one of our machines, or on your own sewing machine and/or serger that you brought for the day. You are invited to continue taking her ongoing sessions as often as needed until you have perfected your personalized, one-of-a-kind creation
